Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a way of exchanging data wireless over short distances, and is an attempt to do away with your computer’s jungle of wiring.
Using a special radio frequency to transmit data, it creates a short range network. It is very secure and can connect up to eight devices (items of electronic equipment) at the same time. The chip can be plugged into items such as computers, digital cameras, mobile phones and faxes.
Bluetooth is particularly convenient in certain situations – for example, when transferring files from one mobile phone to another without cables. Sending music and photos between a PC and a mobile phone is another useful application.

infared
the part of  the electromagnetic spectrum with a longer wavelength than light but a shorter wavelengththan radio waves; radiation with wavelength between 0.8 micrometres and 1 millimetre this is used for remote controls and its very short range.

3G

3G is the third generation of wireless technologies. It comes with enhancements over previous wireless technologies, like high-speed transmission, advanced multimedia access and global roaming. 3G is mostly used with mobile phones and handsets as a means to connect the phone to the Internet or other ip networks in order to make voice and video calls, to download and upload data and to surf the net this is used for mobile internet.

SMS
SMS stands for short message service and is also called texting or text messaging. SMS messages or ‘texts’ are usually sent from one mobile phone to another, but can also be sent from some home phones. It is a quick and convenient way of sending a short message to someone.

Just about every mobile phone has the ability to send SMS messages. Many of the more advanced phones can do much more, including picture and video messaging.
You can also send texts to landline phones – an automated voice reads the message out to the person receiving it

WIFI

Wireless networking - which is often just known as Wi-Fi - is a way of getting broadband internet without wires.
Wi-Fi allows you to connect several computers at once, anywhere in the house - or if you have a laptop, to even use your computer in the garden. You don’t need to install extra phone lines or cables.
Millions of Britons already connect to the internet using Wi-Fi – pronounced ‘why-fy’. It’s also known as ‘wireless networking’ or ‘wireless fidelity’.
Wi-Fi is widely installed in cafés, airports and many other public buildings. If you have seen someone at your local coffee shop surfing the internet on a laptop computer, they are probably using a Wi-Fi network..
